a brief history

Campden Baptist Church has witnessed a remarkable transformation in the few decades. In the 1970's the church was facing an uncertain future, with just a few faithful members remaining. The 'congregation' at one service consisted of three elderly members sitting around a stove in the chilly back room praying for new people to come in to the church.

The prayers of those faithful few were gradually answered and the church has grown to overflowing three times and planted two sister Baptist Churches in Shipston-on-Stour (1999) and Bidford-on-Avon (2005).

After once again reaching capacity at its church building in High Street, we moved our morning service in 2009 to Chipping Campden School, the largest venue in town, which also has plenty of room for the various young people's groups.

A few years ago we produced a small book called "If my people..." recognising and giving thanks to God for all that He's done and doing amongst us.

It is available to download in pdf format (please note file size is about 25MB), just click on the image >

The story doesn't end there though!  We are very much involved in caring for our community and there is plenty of activity going on each day here in Campden.

We are looking ahead to 2019, when we will be holding our 50th Alpha course and will also be running a series of Evangelistic events in and around Campden - come and get involved as we grow to love and serve the Lord.
